Knotty Tessa

Tessa started off the day a little knotty by getting into my makeup drawer once again. This time, she had almost 10 minutes to do herself up right, while I assumed that Thad was watching her and he assumed that I was.
The "knotty" part happened when she fell down on the hardwood floor. She only cried for a minute, then jumped back up. I didn't see the huge knot on her forehead until over an hour later when I was cleaning dinner off her face and swept her bangs aside.
Poor girl, she barely complained!

tumbling

Siena started a tumbling class today. It was at a martial arts studio. The male instructors were pretty good with kids, but very disciplined and serious. If you look close, you can see Siena in the background. She's the one with the orange cone on her head....

Happy Love Day

This year for Valentines, we made lots of crafts, and they all involved handprints. Little handprints, because they are the cutest of course. A few pics of the crafts. I even braided Siena's hair into a heart for her preschool Valentines party.

Working the Rice Paddies

Siena put this basket lid on her head, and I thought it made her look like she was working the rice paddies.

Starting Young

Tessa likes to sit on my lap in the mornings when I do my makeup, so she knew just what to do. She started with the "wuppy" aka lippy aka lip gloss. She figured out how to twist the mascara off and pull out the wand. When I looked up 2 seconds later, she had already created this masterpiece on her face! I think she was quite proud of herself.

The Snow Queen

We Took Siena to see the ballet performance of The Snow Queen at BYU today. The Snow Queen is a story written by Hans Christian Anderson about a cold-hearted snow queen who freezes the heart and embitters the soul of a boy and takes him to Lapland as a prisoner in her snow castle. His friend Gerda embarks on a long and difficult journey, being derailed awhile by an enchantress and robbed by thieves, eventually finds her friend Kay in the Snow Queens ice castle in Lapland, and melts his heart with her warm tears, and brings him home. The performance was beautiful. Siena tried to imitate some of the ballet moves, and despite her previously sulky and whiny mood, was able to completely enjoy herself.

Quotables

1. Siena, to our cousin with a Santa-esque figure: "Is there a baby in you belly?"
Cousin: "No, I'm just fat."

pretty embarrassing. But not to top the one in the grocery store:
-----
Siena was trying to get by a larger guy, and said, "Excuse me!"
The guy: "Wow, what a polite little girl!"
Me, prompting Siena to say thank you
Siena: "Mommy, he's FAT!!"

Yeah, what do you think about the polite little girl now, huh?
-----
Tessa, reaching for something and grunting
Me: "What do you want, Tessa?"
Tess: "Abigail!" (her baby cousin that she is completely obsessed with)
