The ballet Cinderella was showing at BYU today, offering a special matinee for kids 2+ with a "tea party" the hour before the show started. When her Aunty Caroline saw her all dolled up, she said "Siena, you look like a princess!" to which Siena replied, "I'm not a princess. I'm Siena!" very matter-of-factly. I LOVE that girl!
Needless to say, we had a wonderful time at the performance. I think Siena liked meeting the cast at the "tea party" (in quotes because there was no tea, nor any other perishables served- I don't consider suckers perishables), but it was a little over-whelming for her.
For a 2.5 year old, she did remarkably well for a 2-hour performance, commenting when she deemed necessary (i.e. "Mommy, she's gonna get married!" rather loudly, to which the understanding audience was rather appreciative), and twirling like the ballerinas during the intermissions and in the space in front of her seat during the last half of the performance. One observer told me that I can't let that talent go to waste, and that I need to enroll her in ballet. Maybe in a year or two ;)
Almost lost that slipper! |
I think her favorite part of the whole event was the heart-shaped sucker |
Siena zonked out 3 minutes into the car ride after a full day at the ballet |
